Platform Art Prospect is a project which brings together arts organizations, artists, and curators from ten countries to challenge standard notions of public space, nationality and culture and demonstrate how artistic and social practices can stimulate community engagement and positive change. Platform Art Prospect is an initiative of CEC ArtsLink, a nonprofit organization with offices in New York and St. Petersburg that promotes mutual beneficial international communication and understanding through collaborative, innovative arts projects. CSM / Foundation Centre for Contemporary Art and Platform for interdisciplinary practice Open Place are the partners of Platform in Ukraine.
Platform Art Prospect aims to build a regional network to share information, resources, and practices about the arts and social change and to facilitate international exchange and collaboration through public art festivals, residencies, workshops, and seminars.
The Residency program is a key component of Platform Art Prospect that provides opportunities for artists and curators to conduct research, create new work, collaborate with the local arts community, and create special projects.
Maria Vilkovisky & Ruth Jenrbekova (Creolex Centr, Kazakhstan) and Diana Ukhina (Kyrgyzstan, Laboratoria ci) took part in the residency program in Kyiv in 2017. During three months in Kyiv, they conducted their own researches, met the artists, curators and other representatives of the local cultural field, and shared the experience of their projects in the framework of the public events (Creolex Centr, Diana Ukhina). As a result of the residency, Diana published the article on the transformations of the Soviet narratives in the monumental art in Bishkek and Kyiv. Maria and Ruth created the first issue of the shalazine.
